We had 35 on our tour so we were almost filled. (From what I understand Insight cancelled the departure prior and everyone moved to this one. And yes a majority of my tour was either Australians or South Americans. But they are a blast to travel with.
As far as the markets go most of the operate all day and clear into late night. In munich, frankfurt and Salzburg i was still shopping at 10pm.

And yes what GM said Riverside is in California

Hello, We went on the trip in Decemeber last year and loved every second of it. It was fantatstic. There was not a lot of free time if you did the optional tours but in most places - Rothenburg, Innsbruck you only had a few hours, so we would eat on the run. In the bigger cities Salzburg, Munich, Frankfurt we had quite a bit of free time. We did most optional tours and I would absolutely recommend the trip to Oberamergau and Linderhof Castle - it was magic in the snow.
The hotels were fantastic except for Salzburg and Lucern.
