On the contrary, Max, based on my previous excellent experiences with Insight I have every confidence that they will "do the right thing", and I'm certainly not going to pre-judge the issue by making any assumptions.

These things inevitably take time to resolve, but I'm sure that ultimately they'll be sorted out to everyone's mutual satisfaction.

Regards,

Chris

Well anyway, Chris, I don't have as much confidance as you do. I do hope that Insight gives you more than a few coupons for your next tour.

Chris, I'm wondering if you were able to enjoy anything of Rome after that horrible introduction. I know you were really looking forward to visiting this city because if I remember correctly, it was one place you hadn't seen. And then on to Florence. Had you been there before?

Hi BJ,

Unfortunately it did rather spoil the rest of the trip for me; I had to give the day's sightseeing in Rome a miss (the Sistine Chapel, etc) because I was feeling so bad about things.

Never mind; I can always go back again at a later date.

Florence was very good; the statue of "David", especially, was simply breathtaking.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,
I was afraid of that and sorry to hear it. I imagine everyone else was pretty melancholy after such a horrible shock as well. You lost extremely valuable and irreplaceable equipment. I do hope you can return someday and put this sour note behind you. Of course I also trust that Insight will take care of this matter of your extensive losses right away. Please keep us posted.

Hello Chris,

I'm also sorry to hear of your nasty experience. I must also add that the driver has always stayed with the coach on my previous tours with Insight. I do hope the driver is asked a few questions and reprimanded. Very disappointing to say the least! Do not let this put you off for future travels, I'm sure not all Insight coach drivers are like this.

It would probably be nice if Insight gave an explanation to the Discussion Board and some reassurances for future travellers.

Regards
Suzanne

Insight have been in touch with me about this, and I have every confidence that the matter will be resolved to everyone's satisfaction. These things inevitably take a while to sort out, though, and until the matter is resolved I don't think there's anything useful to be gained from talking about blame, etc.

The important thing is not to assign blame, but to ensure that lessons are learned from such incidents to try and make sure that they don't happen again.

Regards,

Chris

Hey Chris

Sorry about your problems on your trip.

I just got my 2004 Insight book and was very impressed with it. I'm trying to figure out how many optionals may be offered on the Spain, Portugal and Morocco tour. Looks like a lots is included.

Will you tell me how many optionals were offered on the tour you just took?

Thanks,

Pat

Hi Pat,

There were quite a few options. Unfortunately my option list was in the bag which I lost, so I can't tell you the exact numbers or prices, but I did all except two and paid about 500 for them. I believe the total was slightly over 600 for people who did everything.

From memory, the options were:

- Dinner and walk around the red light district in Amsterdam.
- Horse and carriage ride through the country in Innsbruck.
- Gondola ride in Venice
- Night trip along the Grand Canal in Venice.
- Guided tour of the Doge's palace and St Mark's basillica in Venice.
- Trip out to Burano and seafood dinner in Venice
- Walk around the "classical" centre of Rome.
- Visit to the catacombs and some other things in Rome.
- "Party night" out in Rome with dinner.
- Lake cruise in Lucerne.
- Visit to Versailles and the Louvre in Paris.
- Seine river cruise & Paris illuminations tour.
- Dinner and cabaret at the Moulin Rouge in Paris.

As you see, most of the options were concentrated in Venice, Rome and Paris. All the options I did were thoroughly enjoyable.

Regards,

Chris

Condolences, Chris. I know this has been a terrible disappointment for you but I must say you are a class act.

You are setting a great example for us all in dealing with the nastiest of situations-makes some of our complaints rather petty overall.

Good luck-hope things are better from here on and that your next trip will be a dream instead of a nightmare.
