We just got back from our 1st tour ever, and wow, did we pick a great company and a great tour. The Christmas markets were awesome, our tour director (Wolfgang Fineder) was informative, helpful, and made everyone feel like he was there to make sure we had the vacation of a lifetime. The weather worked against us a little, but everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) on the trip was so positive and upbeat, we all had a blast. I've been on the website looking for the perfect Italy Tour, any suggestions?

Depending on the length of tour you are looking for, we did Best of Italy last Aug. and loved it. Country Roads of Italy is another one that I would like to take and our Tour Director on BOI also said she would recommend it.

There are several tour tales from Italy that you might like to refer to, under Where are All the Tour Tales?

Hey Diane, glad that you enjoyed the Winter Wonderland tour and that "EVERYONE" was upbeat despite the inclement weather - that's excellent. I did this tour last year and had an absolute ball. So much so that I was hoping to be on the 17 December departure this year but had to change plans at the last minute. I understand that they have 2 buses running the same route for this departure so Insight certainly have a winner with this one. Hopefully they'll keep it running for Christmas markets next year too and I might get the opportunity to get back there then.

My Mum and I did a tour of Italy with Gl**** a few years ago. Couldn't fault the driver or tour director but the hotels left a lot to be desired with regards to standard/location. I think the whole group was disappointed by this but we all got on great together and kept our spirits up which saved the situation in the end.

Insight is certainly the way to go!!!

Happy Trails

[QUOTE]The weather worked against us a little

Did you have any snow on the tour. It would be really special to have snow falling just before christmas.
I think I would just love some snow right now, it was 44 degrees celcius in Melbourne on new years eve, the hottest ever on record. It was so hot it was just unbearable.

Both G****s and Insight offer a "Best of Italy" tour which follows the same itinerary. They both vist Rome, Pompei, Sorrento/Naples area, the Isle of Capri, Asissi, Venice and Florence. The hotels are somewhat comparable by Italy standards. G****s stays 2 nights on the Isle of Capri whereas Insight spends the comparable nights at the Europa hotel in Naples which is located in a seedy area.

We went on Amazing Spain & Portugal just this past February, which was from the Winter Tour Book. My journal is posted under the Tour Tales.

We went on "Winter Wonderland" in March of 2002 and "Amazing Spain and Portugal" in April 2003. Both tours were outstanding.

I am thinking of taking the Winter Wonderland Tour which seems to be a winner with you people. I would like to know what sort of clothes to take for the Christmas trip 2007. Do I need anthing to "dress-up in" or just warm casual clothes. Are boots the de riguer. Any help from previous travellers most welcome. Am single female.
