Reply from Insight

"Hello Jenny,
Unfortunately at this time it is still too far out for us to
determine if this tour will be considered a preferred departure. We are
unable to provide information as to how many passengers are currently on
any given departure date but should have a better idea of how this tour
is selling towards the end of the month. Feel free to check out website
as often as you like for updates on the status of this or any departure.
We update our website daily and will designate tours as DEF once they
have more than enough passengers booked on the tour. Our apologies for
the delay in this response and we thank you for your patience. Have a
nice day"

Hi everyone, I'm enjoying the comfort of fellow travellers' comments as many of us wait for confirmation of tours. There will be double the joy now when original plans are confirmed or new plans are devised.

Deanne, Golden Explorer is the Eastern Discovery Tour in reverse. It starts in Istanbul and ends in Vienna. Looks fantastic, and fits in (hopefully) straight after Treasures of Turkey. Re your Egypt tour, I can't imagine that you would have to do your own thing, even if the Insight Tour doesn't go ahead. Having said that, our daughter easily made her own way around Egypt, booking local guides along the way. Certainly easier to do with a backpack than suitcases!

Deb and Gary, so nice to hear that your plans are definite.

Hi Nelligan

I have just looked at the holidays you are planning to do... we are planning to do your exact itinerary next year (only in reverse). When you come home please tell us how it went and what you enjoyed as the tour goes to a part of the world we have little knowledge of, but have been dreaming of!

We would love to hear any comments you may have.
We are doing the European Breakaway followed by the Elegance of Great Britain this year leaving in 7 days!

Best wishes
jeni

Jeni, have a wonderful holiday. We have toured with Insight through some areas of the European Breakaway tour, and it was a wonderful experience. We've only ever taken ourselves around Great Britain, but you are certainly covering some highlights in your tour. How wonderful that you are planning next year's touring already. I will certainly let you know about the tours we are taking this year.

Enjoy
Nelligan

Hello to all - Nelligan your holiday plan sounds wonderful - I'm sure it will all be confirmed for you soon. As to Egypt for us, I've noticed the tour departing directly before ours has now been confirmed as of Tuesday so fingers crossed ours will also. Deb & Gary - I have been reading all your tales along with a lot of others on the "meeting friends" pages and I find it so lovely to read of people who are just as excited as us at the prospect of overseas travel.
It's also funny to realize we are all asking similar questions regarding our travel and departures. I was a little apprehensive of posting a comment initially but now I'm so glad I have. Keep up the great dialogue everybody!
Happy holiday planning
Deanne

Deanne,
My fingers are crossed for you and those waiting to know if trips go ahead.
Its nerve racking, all the planning and anticipation - just putting a deposit on is a big deal. I know!
I am one of travellers prattling on, and so appreciate the "meeting friends before travel" I have made some wonderful contacts and learnt so much from this forum. And it continues! It is VERY ADDICTIVE and, what with the forum and the excitement and reading about my trip, its difficult to fit anything else in.
With only 27 sleeps to go, I now am dreaming of being on my trip - cant get past the Greek Is (Classic with Cruise).
This is the first BIG trip I have done, been to Fiji in the 70s and 2 fly drive hols in wonderful New Zealand, but this is IT.
Enjoy it all Deanne and good luck.

Well we are just about ready to go (only 2 days to go!) I've packed our suitcases and boy have we ever learnt from last time! I managed to compress everything into just over 10 kilos of stuff each, and most of that does not need to come home at the end of the holiday. We are super excited and can't wait to get started on the European Breakaway and then the Elegance of Great Britain.

I found a wonderful book called How to Read a Country House which I will be taking with me (and posting home!). It tells me about all the styles of English country house, what the layout says about the type of family who had it built, and even teachs me how to read the garden and identify styles! I am over the moon. It arrived just in time too.

In many ways I am rather glad that TT cancelled our Britainnia tour as it has given me the chance to revisit Europe. Sure, it made life very complicated, but now I have organised myself within an inch of my life I am ready to go and planning on having the time of my life.

I hope all goes well with your tours, and whatever you all end up doing brings you nothing but joy

Jeni
