I have just arranged for my wife's safe return from your Scandinavian tour after she became ill and was abandoned by the Insight tour guide in Stockholm Sweden. How scary is that? Alone in Sweden with the tour guide of no help.
Even worse, she was hospitalized and all alone with the tour guide saying that she was trying to get some sleep when she was called. The tour left Stockholm with my wife just getting out of the hospital. She was ready to rejoin the tour but had no idea as to how to locate anyone since it was Memorial Day in the USA and all the travel agents were off of work. To add to this, she had no contact with the tour guide. Here it is Thursday evening and no word from Insight. We will never use this agency again. They have no care for their customers. |

I am sorry your wife had such a terrible experience. I would have thought the TD would have given your wife their mobile number or at least check regarding her well being with the hospital.Was your wife not able to contact the tour Hotel in Stockholm? You may have had the same problem with any tour company so it is hard to say that Insight have no care for their customers I hope you are able to get some answers as to why this problem occured.

I am sorry to hear about your wifes experience it doesn't sound good. On one of my tours when doing Eastern Europe with Insight one of the ladies on the tour fell down from the steps coming down from the coach and broke her leg. Our TD spent all that day and the most of the next day looking after her at the hospital, the TD orginised the local tour guide to look after us and show us around the city. In the mean time the TD was arranging air flights and transportation for the lady to get to the airport and for an ambulance in London to meet her to take her to hospital. This was very difficult for the TD to do because most airlines would not except some one with a brokem limb because of DVT. he managed to sort everything out for this lady and what made it more difficult for the TD she didn't have travel insurance. So I am suprised to hear that your wife didn't received some help.

Very sorry to hear about your wife's experience Billyjack but I can assure you that I have always found Insight very attentive and caring in such circumstances.
My wife suffered an injury on one of our tours which resulted in her being rushed to hospital in an ambulance. Within minutes of arriving at the hospital the City Manager for Insight arrived at the hospital and stayed with me the whole time we were there helping and attending to everything that was necessary. Insight certainly went out of their way to look after us and it was greatly appreciated. |

A thank you for the kind words of the responders. I may have had an unusual experience because of a TD that would rather sleep than attend to a member of the tour that was in need.
I know that the TD was aware of the problem my wife was having because she sent a pill (of some sort) to my wife's room via a porter. This was about 2am after my wife had called the TD. When my wife contacted me at around 3am in pain and somewhat disoriented from her migraine headache, I contacted Emergency Medical Services who then contacted my wife and arranged for an ambulance to take her to the hospital. I'm not certain if her disorientation resulted from the headache or the pill supplied by the TD. In any case, it is now afternoon on 30 May and we have yet to hear from Insight Vacations. I am sure many have had wonderful experiences with this tour organization, unfortunately they leave me to believe that they are rather incompetent and ineffective. |

From the Administrator..‘we are extremely sorry that this Gentleman's wife was apparently taken ill. We are obviously not at liberty to discuss medical conditions or surrounding circumstances, save to note that initial investigation shows that our TD only became aware that our guest had discharged herself and flown home when she went to visit the guest in hospital that same day. We are investigating this bulletin board posting and will liaise with our guest directly; therefore this topic is now closed.’
