Booked for a stopover in singapore for 23to 24 september accommodation was $400 been notified has gone up to $1300. Very hard to find accommodation because of Grand Prix in Singapore in late september.TA had requested over 100 hotels but all came back unavailable. So be warned about stopovers in singapore in late september.

Hi Janelle,

We had no problems booking in Singapore for 22 September but we did book through Singapore Airlines Stopover.

I don't know what airline you are travelling with but if it is Singapore Airlines then ask your Travel Agent to see if they can book you a Singapore Stopover. They are quite reasonably priced, have 5 categories of accommodation (A,B,C,D and E) and come with a number of "freebies" and discounts for Singapore attractions. We have once again booked into the Grand Plaza Park Hotel City Hall (category C)because we like to be away from the touristy strip of Orchard Road.

For info on Singapore Airlines Stopover Holidays see Singapore Stopover Holiday and for information re their hotels see Hotel Rates and click on each hotel category to see the details of the hotels in that category.

You will see that the rates range from US$62 to US$149 twin-share which is nowhere near the rate of $1300 that you mentioned in your post. It would certainly be worth getting your TA to persue the matter for you.

Have a great trip.

Hi Dragon,
We are travelling with Singapore Airlines we tried to book a singapore stopover with them but they couldn't confirm a booking so we booked accom (Furama) with creative holidays paid for accom last year. Notifed a couple of weeks ago that the price had gone up to $1300. Fine print says that they can do this. If you look at different sites for accom the period 23 to 29 sept is blocked out. We have found accom on Sentosa island.

Hi Denise, long time no chat. Big Grin

I have stayed at quite a number of hotels in Singapore but sorry to say I haven't stayed at the Singapore Rendezvous. However I can say that I regularly stay at the Rendezvous in Melbourne and its quite nice and when the purchased thew hotel from the Duxton chain they spent quite a lot of money on completely renovating it so I imagine that their Singapore hotel would be OK.

Hi Puff,
I did see pictures of the other Rendezvous hotels and they look ok. We are going to be closer to Orchard Road this time. I was surprised the Parkroyal on Beach was already booked out

Cheers Denise
