Hi Mal, we did this tour 3 years ago, so I don't know how relevant this info is. As usual, with Insight or Supersaver, the TD & driver were excellent. Very knowledgable & helpful.(We were robbed of our passports in Barcelona and our TD handled it great!) the hotels on supersaver are usually a bit further out of town, but you are kept busy & they are usually near a metro stop so this can be overcome. We did our tour commencing in London and ending in Amsterdam, because we flew to Rome.It might be a bit tight to try to get to Athens after the long drive back to London. I spoke to some friends who went all the way to London and they did not get in until late in the afternoon. Hope this helps! Smiler

Did your tour go to Paris first? As I know that sometimes they go in the opposite direction.
We had thought of leaving the tour in Amsterdam as we need to be in Athens to go on a cruise.
What time did you get back into London after the tour?
How did you find the Hotels and the meals?
Did you get a change to visit King Ludwigs Castle or did you only have a photo stop?
Sorry for all the questions, but would be interested in your comments and advise re extra excursions.
Was your bus full?
Many thanks for you comments

How come your tour direction was changed? We had planned on leaving the tour in Amsterdam to fly to Athens. I have not booked any flights yet, but not sure what to do now.
When did you go on your Tour? what did you think of the hotels, excursions and trip in general?

Hi Mal, we went in May, so the eather was fine to hot. Our tour began London to Paris and ended amsterdam to london. They book in either direction depending on the dates. It will tell you in the brochure which direction the specific tour runs. Our last hotel was at Schipol airport, (A/dam) and we got a cheap flight to Rome, so you should be able to do this to Athens. hotels and meals were OK (nothing flash, but comfortable.) We had 40 people, ranging from 30 ro 70, but it was a good fun group. These tours are designed to move fairly quickly so there is not much time for private sightseeing, but a good overview of the main areas of Europe. Unless it says 'visit' you will only see a specific sight from the bus or lunch stop. Smiler

Thanks for the info.
You must of stayed at the Dorint Sofitel Schipol Hotel in Amsterdam, we are scheduled to stay at the Tulip Inn riverside, which has not had such good reviews. I imagine though that we will not have a problem to get to the airport by 12.35 to get our flight to Athens.
Is there only one airport there?
I made the mistake of booking a flight from Dusseldorf Germany to London prior to this tour, with Ryanair and then found out that the airport is about 50km from Dusseldorf itself.
I looked at my brochure and it says that the tour will be reversed if they are overbooked and require more than one bus.
So did you have a chance to see Ludwigs Castle up close?

Hi Mal
Sorry, I'm not sure about any other airport in Amsterdam, but you would have time that morning to get to any airport. We only drove below King Ludwigs castle and stopped for a brief photo opportunity. Sorry i was a bit delayed answering but I am madly packing! We fly out on Saturday (l9th) for Northern Capitals & Russia tour, so you won't hear from me for 6 weeks! Bye! Smiler

With regards to Ludwigs Castle, so the T.D. did not ask if the group wanted to stop there for a lunch break?
What time did you go by?

Hi MalNZ, we did a european tour a few years back and actually stopped at Ludwigs Castle for lunch. Others took the opportunity to race back up the hill for some fabulous shots, others walked up to the castle, quite a walk, others had a great lunch sitting looking up at this fairycastle like vista & just enjoyed the sight.

Hi Joanne
Thanks for the info, we hope we have the same opportunity as you. What did you do, enjoy the view or took the walk?? Smiler
What did you think of the tour, can you give us any hints re the extra excursions, hotels etc. Was your tour reversed or was Amsterdam your last night in Europe? I have been trying to find out what time the tour gets back to London as we need to be in Athens that night. Did you stay at the Insight Hotel in London prior to the tour or if not where? Their Hotel seem so expensive but the tour leaves very early.
Would appreciate any info that you can supply.

MalNZ, our tour was calles european adventures, left London(Insight',Hilton hotel okay for short time) 6am for Dover, Amsterdam was last on the list and we arrived back in London in the afternoon. The hotel may seem pricey but remember, if it's close to all in London think of the saving in fares etc, we used the bus passes & had a ball before & after the tours.
Hope this helps. Joanne
