I will check with our Dr. about vaccinations, however I think we are still covered by the vaccinations we had last April when we did Spain,Portugal & Morocco. Not sure about Maleria medications but I would rather be safe than sorry. Definitely take along medication for tummy bugs, plus plenty of tissues for the toilets.

We will take a mix of US dollars (small denominations i.e. $1 & $5),credit cards, a small amount of travellers cheques and will try to obtain some Egyptian pounds (again, small denominations). Apparently Cairo is the only city in Egypt with ample ATM's.

Friends obtained their visas at the Airport in Cairo for 15US dollars each however, we decided to let out Travel Agent obtain our Visas - not keen on the idea of being stuck at Cairo airport if we had trouble.

I have been keeping an eye on the temperature over there - it doesn't seem too hot but we still have 5/6 weeks to go - can't wait.

Only thing we are not looking forward to is the long plane flight. Flying Emirates this time so will be interesting to see how they compare with Qantas.

I certainly saw ATMs in Aswan and would imagine Luxor would have some too.

5 weeks today until we fly out!
We thought the same about the visas, decided would feel better knowing it's all done before we leave. We're flying Singapore Airlines, also having a change from QF. From what I've heard Emirates are excellent.
