Hi Langers.
I did my tour on September 5 with Golden Tours, sounds exactly the same as the Evan Evans Tour to Blenheim Palace, Cotswolds Burford and Boughton on Water. Isn't Bibury a treat? I loved it. I didn't go with the Golden Tour but my brother took me there about three years ago and we went to the trout farm, visited Arlington Row. Fantastic, loved it there, but what about all those narrow country lanes !!!
Oh, and the weather was perfect too this year. In six weeks away, I got one day of rain, had to be in London of course, on the 15th September, poured all day !! Didn't stop me finding something to do. Wink

Hi Gen,

I can certainly recommend the Evan Evans tour because, as you have said Bibury is an absolute treat. It is gorgeous and Arlington Row is like stepping back in time, it was my favourite place on my visit to the UK. The meal I had in Burford at the local bakery was so delicious, I had the best ever soup and apple pie and custard, Ohhh take me back please!!!!

I left London on the 12th to fly to Copenhagen for my tour of Scandinavia so I missed the rain !! In Scandinavia I had 12 days of perfect weather, I was very lucky indeed Smiler

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all your responses and travel tips. I appreciate all the information that you have provided me with.

Only 26 1/2 hours to go before I depart for London and I have so much left to do.

I loved France and Italy. France was wonderful, especially Nimes. I love Provence. Italy, well I just had the most wonderful time.THE TOUR TALES ARE COMING SOON!! I am almost finished on Easy Pace France. I had extra time in Florence on my own and I am so pleased I did this. I was a little nervous about getting around on my own, but I had no trouble at all. I stayed at the Embassy Hotel, which is very close to the railway station. I would highly recommend the Embassy by the way, top hotel!! Very clean, great rooms and the breakfast was better than any place I stayed in Italy. My next visit, well I am going to London in February to work for one year, so somewhere during that year, I am sure I will fit in a few long weekends in Italy, and probably a few in France. Can't wait.

Wow, living in London for a year, the visits to Europe will be continuous Smiler Can I ask what your job will be while you are there? I would love an opportunity like that but my sons would never let me go !!

Can you believe some people say that they would NEVER return to dirty, unfriendly Florence?? Like you I love Florence, and I am so glad you had a great time there.

I am looking forward to your tour tales, I have a very nice French friend who lives in London and visits his family in Nice regularly, one day I hope to visit there too and see Arles and Nimes as well. Oh there is just so much to see and you will have a perfect opportunity next year.

Langers, I don't think my sons, their wives and my grandchildren are going to be thrilled at me being overseas working for a whole year.

I haven't got a job yet, I am looking at finding something in the corporate sector as a PA or administrator, I have always worked in Education in administration, I am an Office Manager and will be taking 12 months leave from my job. I will take whatever I can get, so long as it pays the bills!! (maybe I could get a job with Insight office Wink I've done 7 tours with them now)(lol)

You would love Nimes, my next favourite place after Tuscany!! I am starting to have too many favourite places!!

Gennevive,

Good for you Smiler You will VERY easily get a job, I know a number of people who walked into great jobs in London and they travel constantly (they love Spain). I am in my 40's and my career is only beginning after not working for 20 years but one day in the future I will do the same as you for sure. If you love travel it is ideal.

I spent 3 weeks with a French family and hiked in the Pyrenees, so there and the Dordogne are my favourite places in France (so far anyway!!)

I am very envious Wink Smiler

Be careful, be very careful!

In 1968, I just slipped across to Aussie for a couple of years, then I thought 2½ years in Hong Kong would be fun. Now it is 2009 and I never did get back to that job that was waiting in New Zealand. Smiler

Have a ball, my dream has always been a year in London but I never managed it!

When you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable.

Hi Gennevive,

I have looked through the 2010 Insight brochure and can not see listed the Easy Pace tours that you did. It seems such a pity they no longer run these as they are an ideal way to spend more time in each city. I guess they were not popular enough as people prefer to see as much as they can in a short time.

7 tours with Insight is a lot. I started out with Insight, but have since travelled with other companies, I guess money was the main issue with this decision, but I have been very happy with all my tours.

I am excited for you for your plans in 2010 Smiler
