I've supposed to be going on the "Country Roads of Scotland" trip on Saturday. I say "supposed to be" because, to be honest, I'm not sure that I want to go. We're having the most ghastly weather here in the UK at the moment. As I write this, it's 9 o'clock in the morning in the middle of summer; it's pitch black outside, the rain is lashing down and there's a howling gale. The forecast for next week is rain, rain, and more rain. I can't think of anything more depressing than spending a week in Scotland in this.

Can anyone think of anything to cheer me up? At the moment I just feel like chucking in the whole thing and staying at home for the week Frowner.

Chris, I hope the weather forecasts are wildly astray for next week! You can still look forward to an interesting shared experience with your fellow travellers ... and a tour with a difference (???)

Chris, it rained quite a bit on my tour of Scotland, and I was dissapointed that the clouds covered up many of the views I was hoping to see, but there were waterfalls and creeks everywhere you looked and where you wouldn't expect to see them. So I took that as a plus and still had a great time. And you know by Saturday, everything could be bright and sunny.

Dear Chris

I know we all feel disappointed if the weather is bad on our holiday but look at the fact you will be away from home - you don't have to cook or make your bed and hopefully will meet nice people to share your holiday with.

You will still see some lovely sights and will come back refreshed and ready to face work again.

I have always found your posts to be honest and informative and it has saddened me to read that you are unhappy.

Happy travelling.

Hi Chris,
It must be a global thing, our usual sunny hot, humid 30+C July has also been replaced with rain, rain and more rain and they predict the same for August!
We leave on Aug 8 for Britian & Ireland Explorer - so I expect I'm either going to get the same weather I'm getting at home - or the sun may just come out.... Cool
No fear - it least it's a break from the daily grind.
Maybe the smile on my face anticipating the upcoming trip will make your day brighter. Smiler

Chris,

Why don't you come to Las Vegas, Nevada where it's SUNNY, HOT & HUMID?!!! I would return there any minute if I'm not only due to go back to work soon.

Isn't there a nice new electronic toy you can take with you to cheer you up?

Maybe something that could tell you exactly where you are in the fog and display photos of what you should be seeing! Smiler

Seriously, go for it, I'm sure you will have a great time and will come back and tell us all about it.

Still not interested in the BB Tour?

I'm feeling more cheerful about it now. Thursday morning, when I wrote my original message, was just such horrendous weather than I just couldn't face the thought of doing a tour in that.

I'm sure that I'll have a good time. Off 9am-ish tomorrow morning to get to Edinburgh by lunchtime.
