I would say, go with an open mind, don't bring too much luggage, just wash your clothes at night, bring extra money in case you want to shop, and definitely go on all of the excurions, even if they are expensive. Just hang out with who you click with, there is always some drama on the bus, just avoid it, sit at the front of the bus. LOL.

If you use a credit card, make sure you call your bank and tell them you will be on a trip and where you are going. We had a lady whose card was turned off, on one of our trips. For safety, some banks will do this if they think your card may have been stolen. Luckily it was near the end of her trip, but she had to borrow money from others to get through the rest of her trip.
We had trouble with washing clothes in Italy. Laundry service was very expensive and unless you have a two night stay, your clothes won't dry if you wash them yourself. Once I washed shirts and undies and draped them over chairs on a deck, but it was so humid, they had a hard time drying even then.

Go down about 3 sections on this Board to THE INSIGHT EXPERIENCE and in the second section you will see General Travel Advice. Click on that and you will see 37 pages of advice. If you read the first page you will get a flavour of the questions. The 3 top postings are permanent, and full of good advice. Otherwise, if you have questions on a certain topic, use the FIND button at the top left of the display box and put your topic in there, and see how many pages of posts you come up with! Good luck.
